home assistant humidity automation

i a trying to set up a automation to turn on a smart plug when the humidity reaches a certain point and turn off after it reaches a certain point. i used the automation tab in ha. if i execute it it it turns on but not automatically. hi, it is difficult to diagnose a problem when the code & indenting is not formatted correctly. the fact that it works when you manually execute it would indicate that there is something wrong with your trigger definition. for comparision this is my dehumidifer automation however it differs from yours in that i have a sensor that activates on a sharpe rise in humidity (which means someone is using the shower) and it only runs between certain times of the day: ok, i don’t know why this is not working but i suggest as a test you try a numeric state as the trigger rather than a device. what options do you get in the ui editor for this (mine is shown below for an aqara zigbee sensor): the automation’s trigger is designed to trigger when the humidity increases and crosses the threshold value of 58. if the humidity is already above the threshold, the automation will not be triggered.

the humidity must first decrease below the threshold and then rise above it in order to re-trigger it. thank you for the reply. it has been along time between using hassio due to a house move and i have forgotten nearly all of the little knowledge i had! they both trigger at the moment the humidity increases above the threshold value of 58. they will not trigger when the humidity is already above the threshold. when you triggered the automation manually, it skipped the automation’s trigger and executed its action. you said that part worked because it turned on the switch. do you remember what was the humidity level when you created the automation and waited for it to trigger automatically?

i use the trend sensor to detect the rate of change, and the rate of humidity change tells me if the shower is occupied or not. i went back and looked at my automation, and i’m only using that trend sensor for the lights. for kicking on the bathroom fan, i measured humidity in the bathroom, and in the room adjacent to the bathroom, and when the difference between those two rooms is greater than 5%, i kick on the fan. i have the following that is working consistently for the past weeks. i’m having a problem with the binary sensor not detecting when the shower is running.

i now play a random spotify playlist on my bathroomspeaker when i’m showering, turn on the bathroom dehumidifier and fan when i’m showering. i mean – we take the average humidity of the last hour and compare it with the current humidity. i don’t get false-positives anymore, but i would suggest to play with the variables until you have something that works perfectly for your bathroom thank you for pointing me in the right direction in getting my fan to turn on when humidity is detected! is it possible, in the binary sensor value template to add some maths so that it turns on at 5-10% above average humidity level? i use a binary_sensor to check if the current humidity minus the average humidity is greater than the input_number threshold. trying to follow along and the binary sensor is throwing errors in the confog.

hope everyone is well. i a trying to set up a automation to turn on a smart plug when the humidity reaches a certain point and turn off after it reaches hi, pretty new to home assistant and would appreciate some help with setting up an automation to turn on humidifier if humidity drops below 60%. i’ve can anyone help me to set up an automation trigger when humidity increases (say 10%) within 10 minutes?my goal is to switch on a bathroom fan when, home assistant humidity blueprint, home assistant humidity blueprint, home assistant automation examples, home assistant turn on fan humidity, home assistant dehumidifier.

the idea here is for a fan to turn on off based on comparing a humidity sensor’s value to a reference humidity. i have created two automations: 1 to turn the fan on , then another to turn it off. however the fan has also a manual switch, i’m not sure if a home assistant update has made “device_class: ‘humidity’ ” depreciated, but i cant seem to configure it correctly. also with, home assistant bathroom fan humidity, home assistant thermal comfort, home assistant shower sensor, home assistant sun automation, home assistant ecowitt, home assistant device trigger duration, home assistant switch automation, air gradient home assistant, home assistant trigger condition, home assistant time pattern.
